From the source to the fall: on the Lechweg you accompany one of the last wild rivers
Europe from its origin near the Formarinsee lake to the Allgäu region, crossing the Lechtal valley and the Reutte nature park region. Even though 125 kilometres is no walk, the long-distance trail is a relatively easy walk, but offers great views and insights. Past ibex colonies, through the botanically unique Lechtal alpine meadows and over the spectacular 200-meter suspension bridge near Holzgau, the 15 trail sections finally lead to the small town of Füssen - depending on your fitness and endurance, there are three tour suggestions that take between 6 and 8 days.

15 beautiful trail sections lead you from the high mountains to the foothills of the Alps, or even in the opposite direction.

The Lechweg is connected to the public transport system, so you can take the bus from the hotel to the individual stages or shorten them.

We are a Lechweg partner company.

Moderate long-distance hiking on the Lechweg works best without heavy loads on your shoulders. The Lechweg Shuttle of the Fima
Feuerstein GmbH &
STM Service transports your luggage to the next accommodation. It is best to book the transport directly with the company before the start of your hiking holiday.

Near the Lake Formarin the Formarinbach, one of the two headwaters of the Lech, rises. A few kilometres later, the Formarin Creek and the Spullerbach to the Lech. North of the Formarin lake lies the Alpe Formarin. Afterwards it goes past the Ibex Monumentwhich commemorates the reintroduction of the ibex. Meanwhile, the largest ibex colony in Europe lives here with about 600 specimens.

The section from Stubenbach to Warth, Gehren or Lechleiten runs from the eastern Lech district of Stubenbach on a path above Lech am Arlberg to the border gorge between Lech and Warth. The trail goes uphill via the Höhenwald forest to the Walser village of Warth.

From the village centre of Warth, the Lechweg trail leads through the Walser village before crossing a small suspension bridge over the Krumbach stream and on to Gehren and thus onto Tyrolean soil. Via a panoramic trail, you hike from Lechleiten in the direction of Steeg.

From Steeg to Holzgau you start along a field path in the direction of Hägerau. At the wildly romantic waterfall, a Kneipp facility invites you to tread water and linger.

The hiking trail from Holzgau to Bach leads over 10 km on a challenging mountain trail. For those with a head for heights, the Lechweg leads over a spectacular pedestrian suspension bridge in Holzgau.

Directly along the banks of the Lech, the Lechweg leads you from Bach to Elbigenalp.

You hike 7 km on an easy hiking trail. From the centre of Elbigenalp you return to the Lech. The Lechweg initially leads directly along the river.

From Häselgehr, the Lechweg continues along an easy 5 km hiking trail to the hamlet of Luxnach. Here you will find the Doser waterfall. Its water springs from a rock grotto and used to power a mill.

From Elmen to Vorderhornbach you hike for about 2.5 hours. The easy mountain hiking trail stretches over 6 km. From the centre of Elmen you return to the district of Klimm and from there up to the Lechweg.

In a good 1 hour you walk on an easy hiking trail from Vorderhornbach to Stanzach. You pass Vorderhornbach and continue hiking along a field path to the Lech bridge.

Welcome to the "wild river". The Lechweg leads you from Stanzach along the gravel banks through the characteristic wild river landscape. For the easy hiking trail with a length of 5.5 km you need about 2 hours from Stanzach to Forchach.

From Forchach to Weißenbach you walk 7 km on an easy hiking trail.

You hike 9 km from Weißenbach via the villages Rieden, Höfen and Ehenbichl in about 3 hours to Wängle.

The hike of the Lechweg section from Wängle to Pflach takes about 3.5 hours. The challenging hiking trail measures 9.5 km in length.

On the last hiking section of the Lechweg, an easy mountain trail with a length of 15 km awaits you. You will need about 5 hours for your hike from Pflach to your destination in Füssen.
